Below is a brief guide to installation of a waste fitting for a basin:

There is no requirement in this particular installation to make any overflow connection because it is an integral fit. Bankside Plumbers can install basins. This type of fitting usually uses suitable rubber washers but if these are not available the joints can be made by following the instructions below:

a). Form a ring of plumber’s mate or silicone rubber on the underside of the section of the waste fitting that sits in the basin outlet. In order for the joint to succeed it must be absolutely dry, otherwise jointing mediums used will not stick to the porcelain.

b). Place the waste fitting in position and apply another ring of plumbers mate, silicon or a large rubber washer to the area around where the thread pokes through the waste hole of the appliance, then fit a 32mm polythene washer.

c). Finally, run a large back nut on the waste fitting, crimping the whole lot together making a seal.

To stop the fitting from turning in the basin while screwing up the back nut, stick two screwdrivers through the slots or grates in the waste fitting and hold it secure. South Bank Plumbers carry the correct tools and jointing compounds.

When the appliance has been constructed you can start the process often referred to as the “second fix”. Secure the appliance into its position, making sure it is adequately supported and level. The top of the appliance is plumbed in level as the gradient towards the waste is built into the design of the appliance.

Information:
If you are doing a plastic bath installation, there are additional wall fixing clips that are included with the appliance designed to prevent the bath sagging due to the weight of water as it fills.
