Some Examples:

1). Conventional:
The conventional boiler can have two tanks, one is a large cylinder for cold water storage, and the other is called a feed and expansion tank. The cold water storage tank takes water from the mains. The boiler will heat the cylinder and in turn this supplies hot water to the home and also to a circulating pump for the central heating.

2). Condensing:
A boiler that was deigned so the water that returns from the heating system will cool the flue gases. It is known as a “High Efficiency” type of system and works better with lower water temperatures in a system An efficient boiler. These types are available for use with fuels such as, gas, LPG or oil.

3). Back:
An older kind of boiler that would sit behind an open fireplace to provide heating for the room and also hot water via a water filled heat exchanger. A South Bank Plumber knows about this type of system.

4). Combination:
The combination boiler is not just a central heating boiler but a multi point type of water heater as well. Delivering hot water from the cold water mains supply on demand to the taps throughout the home. It is not fitted with a cylinder or tank.
